AB238,1,2
1An Act to amend 118.01 (2) (d) 2. c. of the statutes;
relating to: pupils who are
2excused from public school health education.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, each school board must provide an instructional program
designed to give pupils knowledge of the human body and the means to maintain
lifelong health, including knowledge of physiology and hygiene, sanitation, the
effects of controlled substances and alcohol upon humans, symptoms of disease and
the proper care of the body. However, no pupil may be required to take instruction
in these subjects if the pupil's parent objects.
This bill provides that if a pupil does not take instruction in these subjects as
a result of parental objection, the pupil may not be required to be examined in the
subjects and may not be penalized in any way for not taking such instruction.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
